Rolling Hills Plaza Parking Structures Two brand
new two level parking structures added to this popular Rolling Hills Palza, home of AMC 20
theaters. Structures were designed using state-of-the-art three dimensional computer

Holiday Inn -
Bayview Plaza, Santa Monica, CA This 10-story luxury hotel has been
designed to withstand a higher levels of earthquake forces by using a performance-based
engineering design concept. BQE also managed the construction of the seismic
retrofit phase of this project. |
Farmer and Merchants Bank, Long Beach, CA
- This 12-story, non-ductile, concrete frame building was designed prior to the 1933
Long Beach earthquake. The retrofit was limited to strategic column jacketing and
one concrete shear wall along the back elevation of the building. BQE redesigned the
project and was able to save the owners over $1.8 million in construction costs. |
Malaga Cove Plaza, PVE, CA - This
historic landmark building of unreinforced masonry in the City of Palos Verdes Estates was
retrofitted utilizing the innovative CenterCore technique to
strengthen the building without disturbing the tenants. |
Chapman Building, Fullerton, CA
- Located in the heart of downtown Fullerton, this historic landmark was
strengthened to resist stronger ground shaking. The steel frame building was analyzed and
designed using 3-dimensional computer analysis software. A PML anaylsis was also performed
for the former owner. |
Jet Rag Retail Center, Los Angeles CA
- This famous retail center located at the 825 N La Brea Avenue was designed by
Keith Greco. Keith chose to create an avante garde design featuring bombs thrusting
through the store front. BQE performed the structural design and retrofit for the
building. The design challenge was recognized by Modern Steel (See Bombs Away,
February, 1998). |
Armani of Santa Monica, CA - Located
on fashionable Main Street, this historic building provided an adaptive use for the famous
Armani store. BQE Inc. was responsible for the seismic retrofit of this historic
landmark in 1978. |
